Where’s my refund – New Mexico?
To check the status of your New Mexico refund online, go to https://tap.state.nm.us/tap/_/#1.
To view status information, you will be prompted to enter:
- Social Security number or ITIN
- Refund amount
You can also get status information by logging into your Taxpayer Access Point (TAP) account. If the status of the refund is not available on TAP and the tax return was e-filed, please wait at least six weeks after you submitted your state tax return.
If you do not have access to a computer, you may also call the following phone number: 1-866-285-2996.
Generally, if your return is completed correctly, and you electronically filed your return, you will receive a refund within six to eight weeks.
Additionally, a paper return received by the Department takes eight to 12 weeks to process.
What can cause a delay in my New Mexico refund?
A number of things could cause a refund delay, including the following:
- If the department needs to verify information reported on your return or request additional information, the process will take longer.
- Math errors in your return or other adjustments.
- You used more than one form type to complete your return.
- Your return was missing information or incomplete.
